Be Still !

Be still ! I remember saying these two words to my children so many times when they were small. I think that God says that to His children a lot also but I'm not sure we obey Him all the time.

Especially this week I have felt God calling me to "Be still" in some matters in my life. So many times we want to "do" things or "work things out" in our own way and in our own time when that may not be at all what God wants us to do! It's hard...for me anyway...to give up that feeling of being in control (although actually we never are!)and just "Be still" and try to discern what God wants us to do or which direction He wants to lead us.

Remember when Moses and the children of Israel had gotten to the edge of the Red Sea and they didn't see a way across? This is what God had Moses to say to the people-- "Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace." (Exodus 14:13-14)

That should bring a peace and a calmness to the heart of every Christian! The LORD fought battles for His children back then and He still fights battles for us today!

Lord, help me today to Be Still and rest in Your promises!

Mrs. Marilyn you have no idea how much this helped me today. Its funny how in the middle of the night last night as I was feeding baby the song Stand Still by the Issacs came to mind and then to open this email up and read this. Wow! I'm ashamed to say that I have been trying to figure things out on my own and think I can handle something but I can't. I realize I just need be still and let God guide me! Thanks so much for sharing this you are such a blessing to me. Also thanks for being a Christian example.. I look up to you!

“Stand still”, “be still”, regardless of the form they take, they originated in the words of the law-giving prophets of the Old Testament, but they are fulfilled in the events of the New Testament each time, by the spoken, authoritative word of Jesus Christ. Oh that today, we would stop, be still, stand still, even as the elements of nature did upon that storm ridden even on the sea of Galilee, even as did the bearers of the bier, bearing the deceased son of the widowed woman of Nain, as Jesus said to her, “Don’t weep.” Then gave reason for His command, by touching the dead body and speaking to he whose ears were deaf to all other voices but that of the Son of God, Himself!

Isn’t it amazing, how the voice of Jesus goes places where no other sound can go, and the voice of Jesus can do what no other voice or power or personality or entity can do!

It is no little wonder then, the Lord spoke over and over again, “Stand still, and see….” “Be still, and know…” by the clarion word of His prophets. Lord help us to do just that, especially when You speak to our heart and perform before our eyes, Your wondrous words of life and Your wondrous works of life! Amen!

God bless,

Bro. Mike

I'm always practicing the fine art of being still. There's so much to learn from God when we take the time to be still and listen.
