As the Deer

I looked out my kitchen window this afternoon and saw a deer down in the pasture with its head up, seemingly looking straight back at me. Immediately my mind went to one of the choruses that we sing at church, "As the Deer". It has a beautiful haunting melody and some of the words are: "As the deer panteth for the water So my soul longeth after thee You alone are my hearts desire And I long to worship thee ..." [Marth Nystrom] Can we sing that and really mean it from the depths of our soul? Is Christ alone our hearts desire? Do we long to worship Him? I pray we do. I pray that I do! That truly should be the desire of every Christian....to desire to be as close to the Lord as we can possibly get. And the little deer ....one of God's creations.....reminded me today.

"As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."
Psalm 42: 1

May God's blessings be upon you!

This is one of my favorite songs. I get tears pretty easy on this one. I think I want it at my funeral someday.

Beautiful post. Hope your days are better here lately.

Pretty tough around here. Will get to bed now and hope for energy tomorrow.

God bless and keep your weekend beautiful.

I love God's little surprises in the form of his creation. We're "deer endowed" in our particular area, and as long as they don't decide to become my hood ornament, I am well pleased with their presence.

I just realized that you have written 3 post since I was here!
So, I'll go back to the one with
the humming bird, when you were on the deck! You brought some good thoughts! I love to watch humming birds! They will not be in our area until August!

Then the post about Kyla Rowland. I'm not familiar with her books or songs but you made it sound very interesting. I'll probably go to Amazon and look her up.

And then the picture with the deer!
It must be great to be able to look out the window and see such beauty! And about the "thirsting" for the word. Well, I know one thing, we are so blessed to have Bibles and many different versions if we would like them. There are so many places in the world that have perhaps just a few pages of the Bible and they have to share those few pages.

take care. . .

Have a blessed Lord's Day.
