Traffic Stopper !

The other day hubby and I had taken our daughter-in-law, granddaughter, and baby grandson to McDonald's for lunch and playtime. After we finished eating and playing hubby and DIL went to put baby boy in his car seat. Baby girl was walking out with me. Even though she is 3 1/2 years old I still make her hold my hand while we are crossing the parking lot. The drive-through line was long and we had to walk through that to get to our car. I had my mind on watching the traffic and then putting baby girl in her car seat and didn't hear someone calling me. Hubby said..."There's a lady in the drive-thru line that is calling you". I looked back and saw a lady in a car with the passenger window rolled down. When I walked over to her car she said, "WHERE did you get that purse? That's the prettiest thing I have ever seen!!!" I'm not sure what I was expecting her to say but it wasn't that! I was so pleasantly surprised. But I did have to tell her that I had no idea where the purse came from because it had been a gift from a good friend recently. Clearly my mint green butterfly purse was a traffic stopper!

Ever since I was given this purse I have thought about my friend Lisa who collects butterflies. She said she loves the butterfly so much because it reminds her of her new life in Christ. How just as the butterfly was once an ugly caterpillar but now a beautiful creature, so we who were once so ugly with sin can now be a beautiful new creature in Christ if we accept His free gift of salvation. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." II Corinthians 5: 17

My, but would it not be great if my "new life in Christ" was so obvious to people that someone would stop in traffic to ask me why I was different and where I found this great new life?

May we as Christians so purpose to walk so that we will be "traffic stoppers" and stand out as being different from the rest of the world!

I agree with you Marilyn. We need to be so different that people notice something and we indeed "stop traffic"

This was a great word today.

Love the purse!

I totally agree, about the purse, about being a new creation, and that we would stop traffic because others smell the fragrance of Christ on us!

Love ya

Marilyn,

Your article brings to mind a day while scheduling an appointment for a customer, she 'out
of the blue' asked if I were pentecostal. I said "no, I am Independent Baptist , but we do share
some of the same convictions . I thanked her for letting me know that she sensed there was
something different (from the world) about me. I had been wondering how I could be a witness
when I am mostly home bound and my contact with others is mostly on the phone scheduling
appointments. I really rejoiced that day that perhaps the Lord allowed that lady to confirm to me;
we can be used for his glory wherever we are.I am in no way bragging on me, but just wanted to
share that experience.

With Love,

Peggy

OH..... that is truly a cute purse!!!!!

Was thinking of you this morning. It was early... the sun was coming up and all was absolutely beautiful. It was a tad foggy so you could actually look at the sun and also see a haze over the ground... reminded me of being in the mountains. Anyway, was thinking how nice it would be to be sitting on your deck and sharing a cup of coffee with ya... maybe even a biscuit or 2! ha!

Hope you are having a most marvelous day!!!

I had a message from one of my sisters on my answering machine when I got home from work this afternoon. She had said..."I love the purse! Please leave it to me in your will". LOL

Yes, people notice that we are different. Even a beautiful purse
can speak for us. You always make such beautiful comparisons

Love the purse! If I was gonna steal a purse, it would be one like that!! LOL! :) And it would not be for the money!! You know I wouldn't really steal a purse. Love this post! Now, when I see a butterfly, I'll also think of your "Traffic Stopper" and how we should show Christ to others.

That's a great post Marilyn.... love the purse, by the way! The kids and I just raised larva into butterflies, and it was an amazing adventure. I'll post on it soon.... but when they finally flew away, the kids all stood outside and cheered:)

My sister would sooooo want that purse if she saw it. She has a whole "butterfly" thing going on. Has since she was a little girl.

Beautiful purse, and so kind of a stranger to offer you a compliment. She was acting on Proverbs 3:27, whether she knew it or not, "Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act."

Blessings,
Joy
