We're Not Here For Long

I have to admit it! There are some days when I just feel plain ole OLD! You know what I mean. Those days when my neck and back and other joints ache and hurt because of all the damp, cooler weather. Those days when my vision seems dimmer and blurrier. Days when my energy seems to be missing.

I am not complaining. Just stating the facts. There are just some days when I feel my age more than other days. And usually that just makes me feel more thankful than ever for those days when I do have more pep and energy.

Contrary to what a lot of people would like to think, our bodies were not make to last forever. (That is, since the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden.) We have a limited time frame for this earthly flesh we call home. "For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust." Psalm 103: 14

Our lifespan compared to God's eternity is just like grass that comes up and then dies in the hot summer sunshine. Or a wildflower that comes up beside the road and blooms for a week or two.
"As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the fields, so he flourisheth." Psalm 103: 15

My Daddy was 96 years old when he passed away. Just a few months before he died we were talking about "old times'. He made the comment that it only seemed like a few short years since he was a teenager and getting married. Time passes so quickly. Then we are gone. "For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more." Psalm 103: 16

Seems sort of like doom and gloom huh? Oh NO! I think God only gave us these examples of how short life is so that we would not waste all our time just dawdling around thinking we had tons of time left to get something done for the Lord! He wants us to remember that the only time we really have is NOW! Now is the time to work. Now is the time to share. Now is the time to worship.

"But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;" Psalm 103: 17

"Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name." Psalm 103: 1

Let's "make hay while the sun (SON) shines!"

Life is so short but oh how I dread old age. I just wish Jesus would come back first. Old age is probably the only thing I really fear. I know the Bible says that HE will take care of us so I don't know why I have so much fear over it but I do.

I want to live the rest of my days on earth making the most of every moment! If we're "aching" now, imagine us at 96! Bless his heart, that is so sweet to think about his long, rich life.

peace to you in your week, Marilyn~elaine

This is so true! We are here such a short time, that's why we have to be about our Father's business.

I know what you mean about 'feeling your age'. I sometimes feel really old!

I enjoy your posts and I enjoy coming here and getting a Word.

Life is short, life is hard, but God is soo good. The longer I know Him, the deeper I love Him. I know Marilyn you feel the same way.

I was also thinking as I read your heart here this morning about us being a mist, a vapor. Just here so shortly but with God for eternity those of us that choose/accept His redemption plan.

I tell you, I didn't take care of my body in my youth and early adult life. And I've slacked in the past 6 years as well, my body absolutely aches and I'm planning a change in that department in the days ahead.

Love ya!

THANK YOU MARILYN FOR SUCH A DEEP THINKING POST. WE TAKE OUR TIME FOR GRANTED; SORRY TO SAY, I WASTE ALOT OF MINE! OUR TIME HERE IS SO PRECIOUS. BUT, I DO LOOK FORWARD TO THE PLACE I'M GOING WHERE 'TIME' WILL BE NO MORE! MAY HE HELP ME TO NUMBER MY DAYS AND USE THEM FOR HIS GLORY!
GOD BLESS YOU DEAR LADY.

That lesson helped me to take the focus off of me today. Just this morning my feelings were scarred (I guss that's a good
phrase to use) by someone at our corporate office. I even complained to the head person at corporate about how I am sometimes
spoken to by the operations people. My husband and I are opposites on that issue. I think you should let someone know if there is a problem
and he thinks 'what's the use'. In this case, the top person said that he will address the issue and get back with me. Thanks for
listening today.I hope everything is well with you.
