A Month of Thankfulness: Day 20

Day 20: I'm thankful for good food !

Believe me, I eat my share of good food at least three times a day and sometimes more! But when I say "good", I say that loosely. I mean that it tastes good to me. It's not necessarily always food that's good for me! (Which I really should take measures to correct.) I am already thinking and planning and drooling over the menu for our annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner. It's my favorite meal of the year I believe.

And yet, in our world there are millions of people going hungry tonight. Even worse...some are dying tonight from hunger. I can't give them food off my plate but I can try to help them in some way. There are many good Christian organizations that help feed hungry people in other countries. Even here in the United States there are people who are hungry. In many big cities there are places where people can come and get a hot meal free. In our county there are the Good Samaritan centers in Walnut and Ripley that give away food to needy people.

So this next week as many of us get together with family and friends and eat a meal...or several meals...let's remember to really be thankful that we have enough to eat. And let's also pray for those who are not as fortunate as we are. Never take our blessing of food for granted!

"Give us this day our daily bread." Matthew 6:11

May God bless you!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year, next to Easter. Great thoughts Marilyn, we have a small food pantry here in our own community called Loaves and Fishes. Happy Thanksgiving!
